Machine Component Testing

Machine Safeguarding and Machine Component Testing by SpecTest Forensics - Jeff Hyatt in Atlanta, Georgia

Machine Components are the basic elements and characteristics of a machine that make it work properly.  Therefore, mechanical testing of machine components is an essential part of the design and manufacturing process. SpecTest Forensics utilizes non-destructive testing methods, or NDT, is the process of inspection and examination of a component without causing any further damage. Our NDT techniques include X-ray, ultrasound, and magnetic particle inspection.

Component Categories

Machine Components can be divided into three main categories: structural, mechanical, and control components.

  • Structural: which give support and balance to the machine, such as frames, bearings, fasteners, and seals.
  • Mechanical: which transfer power and movement within the machine, such as shafts, couplings, gears, belts, chains, and clutches.
  • Control: which manage the operation and performance of the machine, such as switches, sensors, actuators, and controllers.

Machine Components are important for the design, creation, and engineering of machines. They are usually standardized to common dimensions and forms, but they can also be modified for specific purposes. Of course, they should be chosen and combined based on the function, requirements, and specifications of the machine. In addition, these components should follow the safety and quality standards and regulations of the industry. Finally, they should be regularly checked, fixed, and changed to ensure the dependability and efficiency of the machine.

SpecTest Forensics Role

Our Mechanical Forensic Engineers investigate property loss and injuries related to failure in machine components and structures. When something goes wrong or an engineered system fails, we apply the principles of mechanical engineering to troubleshoot and determine the cause. Led by Jeff Hyatt, our team is ready to test your machine components today. Contact us today.
